Christmas Fortune Teller (Cootie Catcher)

A Christmassy fortune teller, with conversation starters – great for children to make for a Christmas party or family gathering
I love fortune tellers and have such fond memories of making them as a child. They’re fun to make (or fold!) and even more fun to use. Hours of entertainment as you go round asking everyone in the vicinity to pick a colour, number etc.
Here at The Craft Balloon I have been putting together a selection of themed fortune teller templates. Today, we have a Christmas fortune teller!
This fortune teller has Christmassy pictures and is filled with eight Christmas conversation-starter questions. These are a fantastic activity for kids to do at family gatherings or events. Children will enjoy making the fortune tellers, but will probably have even more fun going round asking everyone the Christmassy questions inside.

What you will need

- scissors (to trim the template)
- colouring supplies (optional)
How to make a Christmas Fortune Teller (Cootie Catcher)
Step 1
Print out the fortune teller template. There are various versions of the tempalte included in the download to choose from.
There’s both a colour version as well as a black ink version (if children want to colour and decorate their fortune teller).
The template is also included for both US spelling (e.g. favorite) and UK/Canadian spelling (favourite).

Step 2
Next, trim the edges so that it is square.

Step 3
Fold the square in half diagonally (join two opposite corners together) and crease. Then open up the paper and do the same, but fold in the opposite direction.

Step 4
Turn the paper over so that the printed side is face down.
Then, fold each corner of the square into the middle point and crease.

Step 5
Turn the paper over and once more fold all four corners into the mid point.

Step 6
Fold the fortune teller in half to make a rectangle and crease along the folded edge. Open and repeat in the other direction.

Step 7
To help your fortune teller take shape, hook your index finger and thumb under two adjacent pictures and press together. Do the same with other hand and the remaining two pictures.
Your Christmas fortune teller is now ready to use!
